What is the LIVING LIBRARY?

We all have prejudices!

Understanding the Living Library begins with this perspective. Whether through news or other influences, opinions about people (or groups) form and solidify quickly. Why not talk directly with each other instead of about each other? This is a way to counter prejudice by engaging in conversation with those affected.

A safe space for open discussions!

Here, participants can ask questions freely, questions that are often avoided. A conversation on equal footing provides valuable impetus for dismantling prejudices. Respectful and mindful interaction fosters new ways of thinking.

The Living Library is a social project to raise awareness about prejudice!

The project offers personal conversations with LIVING BOOKS . Just like traditional reading, good books open up unfamiliar worlds to their readers and, ideally, lead to new insights and perspectives. This is precisely why this wonderful project is so compelling. Participants confront their own prejudices instead of generalizing about people. They have the opportunity to briefly immerse themselves in a world that is foreign to them and can thus experience and learn new things.
